During the industrial development of Granada, from the late 19th to the early 20th century, the city inaugurated what is still its main road today: the Gran Vía de Colón. This century-old street, almost a kilometer long, is dotted with many of the most beautiful and iconic buildings in the city, in addition to serving as the ‘gateway’ to the northeast façade of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Granada. Granada’s Gran Vía is bounded by the Plaza de Isabel la Católica to the south, and by the Jardines del Triunfo and the Avenida de la Constitución to the north.
